Information regarding the logos on the left

City Seal - created in 1969 through a local contest. Norman Hawker, a Memorial High School Student at the time, designed the current seal and was awarded $25.00. The seal includes the date St.
Marys was incorporated (1823), the City's slogan "Where Living is a Pleasure", an agricultural scene, a sail boat, City water tower, industry and homes, and the Latin phrase "Urbs Inter Agros" (City
Between the Fields). The selection committee consisted of Mayor Norman Opperman, Safety/Service Director Ken Hegemann, Attorney Ed Noble, and City Auditor Virgil Sullivan.
American Municipal Utilities - the City of St. Marys Municipal Electric System is a member of American Municipal Power - Ohio (AMP-Ohio). AMP-Ohio is a nonprofit corporation
organized in Ohio in 1971 for the purpose of owning and operating electric facilities or otherwise providing for the generation, transmission, and distribution of electric power and energy to its members. As of
January 2006, the AMP-Ohio membership included 81 public power communities in Ohio, 25 in Pennsylvania, 2 in West Virginia, and 2 in Michigan.
RP3 - an American Public Power Association (APPA) program to encourage public power utilities to demonstrate basic proficiency in four important disciplines - Reliability, Safety,
Workforce Development, and System Improvement. Being recognized by the RP3 Program demonstrates to community leaders, governing board members, suppliers and service providers a utility's commitment to its
employees, its customers, and its community. Additionally, it is a sign of a utility focused on operating an efficient and reliable distribution system. Criteria within each category are based on sound
business practices and are intended to represent a utility-wide commitment to safe and reliable delivery of electricity. There are three designations for an RP3 provider - Gold (utility meets 80% of the program
criteria); Platinum (utility meets 90% of the program criteria); and Diamond (utility meets 100% of the program criteria). A utility may submit an application once every two years. The City of St. Marys
received a Platinum designation in 2005 and 2007.
Quality on Tap (QOT) - a nationwide campaign designed especially for the drinking water industry. Wherever you see the QOT logo or materials be assured that the community
you're in is providing quality water to their customers. The City of St. Marys Water Department is dedicated to providing our residents with clean, clear, and safe drinking water.
Tree City USA - Qualifying as a Tree City USA means that the City of St. Marys has established a policy for planting, maintaining, and removing trees from streets, parks and other
public places. To qualify as a Tree City USA, a city must meet four standards established by the National Arbor Day Foundation and the National Association of State Foresters - 1) Establish a Tree Board or
Department; 2) Adopt a Tree Ordinance; 3) Establish a Forestry Program with an annual budget of at least $2 per capita; and 4) Observe and proclaim Arbor Day. These standards were established to ensure that every
qualifying community has a viable tree management plan and program. St. Marys has qualified as a Tree City USA since 1990.
