The City of St. Marys Fire Department provides fire protection and emergency medical services to the City of St. Marys and Noble Township. Emergency medical services are also provided to the Village of New Knoxville, St. Marys Township, Washington Township, and Moulton Township. In 2014, the City of St. Marys Fire Department responded to 315 fire calls, 1004 emergency medical service calls, and 244 miscellaneous calls.

The department has 13 full-time employees, including the Fire Chief, three Captains, and nine Firefighters. All 13 employees are also State of Ohio Certified Paramedics; a requirement of the department. In addition, the department is supplemented by Auxiliary Firefighters. Employees are very active in fire safety inspections, educational programs, and fire prevention. Additionally, the department offers tours of the facility and speakers at events.

The City of St. Marys Fire Department is rated a Class IV by the I.S.O. (Insurance Service Organization) which makes St. Marys one of the lowest rated departments in the area (the lower rating the better). I.S.O. ratings are used to determine how well a fire department is equipped for fighting fires of all sizes. Local businesses and industries are encouraged to contact their insurance company to determine if their premiums can be reduced due to our Class IV rating.

Thank you for your support!!

The St. Marys Fire Department, in partnership with the St. Marys Professional Firefighters Local 3633, extends their appreciation for the communities’ support in making our annual chicken dinner fund raiser a success.  All proceeds benefit activities for kids including Fire Prevention, MDA Fill the Boot, High School Scholarship Fund, and Kids Sports.

We also send a special thanks to Swartz Contracting for donating water, Vogel’s Bakery for donating rolls, The Evening Leader for donating advertising for the event, and Sam’s Club for a monetary donation.

The weather cooperated and we were able to have a complete sell out! We thank the Hazels and their assistants for spending the day with us and cooking the chicken. As always, it was very good!
