Operation Safeguard

Operation Safeguard is a free service offered through the Fire Department that provides daily telephone calls to seniors and disabled individuals who live alone. Contact is made daily, at a set time, to ensure the safety of the individual. If there is no answer, Fire Department personnel report to the residence. To sign up for this service, contact the Fire Department at 419-394-2361.

Blood Pressure Checks

Free blood pressure checks are available to the public every day from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. at the Fire Department for individuals who need to keep a close watch on their blood pressure for medical reasons or simply as a health measure. No appointment necessary!

Home Fire Inspections

A free fire and safety hazard inspection of your home and garage is available upon request. Department personnel will come to your home and identify any potential hazards and advise you of any changes that need to be made to avoid a fire or accident. Contact the Fire Department at 419-394-2361 to schedule an inspection.

Fire Prevention Week

Every October, one week is designated as Fire Prevention Week. During this week, Fire Department employees visit the local schools and instruct a fire prevention education class for all students in grades K-6. Smoke detectors are given to all fifth graders and gift certificates to local restaurants are given to fourth graders. Handouts are also distributed. Also during the week, preschool students are invited to take a tour of the Fire Department plus take an education trip through the Fire Safety House.
