Downtown Traffic Study

The PDF below contains a presentation given by Choice One Engineering regarding the results of a traffic study conducted in the downtown district.  Based on those results, Choice One Engineering has recommended the removal of several traffic signals.

Water Main Maintenance

The City of St. Marys will be performing water main maintenance which will require shutting water off from County Road 66A at Koop Rd. south and west of this area.  Included is Waesch Rd., Allmans Subdivision, Otterbein Homes and Senior Living, Southmoor Shores, Rustic Haven, Harmons Landing, and Breezewood Estates from 12:00 AM (midnight) until 6:00 AM on October 2, 2018. 

Two New Officers Sworn In

Two new Police Officers were sworn in at Monday night's council meeting.  Michael Porter joined the department on September 19th.  Michael is a graduate of New Knoxville High School and Grand Lake Law Enforcement Academy.  He has an Associate of Technical Study from Wright State University.  Scott Buschur joined the department on September 24th.  Scott is a graduate of St. Henry High School and the Grand Lake Law Enforcement Academy and is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.  Welcome aboard!

30th Anniversary of AAP St. Marys Corporation

The City of St. Marys joins in the occasion of the 30th Anniversary of AAP St. Marys Corporation to recognize and honor this company for the outstanding contributions it has made in our community.  AAP serves as an industrial leader in our community, contributing to the economic well-being of the City and surrounding region.  Mayor Patrick McGowan congratulates AAP with a proclamation and key to the City.

Halloween Parade

The St. Marys Rotary Halloween Parade is Tuesday, October 23, 2018, 6:00 p.m.  Line up will be at the Chestnut St. parking lot at 5:15 p.m.

New Ownership of St. Marys Square

The City of St. Marys is pleased to welcome a new company to the city.

“This is a great day for the City of St. Marys,” Mayor Patrick McGowan said. “We are pleased St. Marys Square Business Complex LLC has decided to purchase the center and that Celina Tent decided to invest in St. Marys and we look forward to a long relationship with a great company.”

Family Aquatic Center Closing

Due to weather conditions, the Family Aquatic Center will be closed today, August 21.  

Groundbreaking Ceremony For New Water Plant

The groundbreaking ceremony for the new Water Plant was held on Friday, August 10th.  Water and Sewer Dept. Superintendent Jeff Thompson addressed the crowd as well as Mayor McGowan, Jakob Meinerding from Jones and Henry Engineers, Robert Knapke from Peterson Construction, and State Representative Craig Riedel.  This 18 million dollar project, located at 11314 County Road 66A, is anticipated to be completed in the Spring of 2020.

The City of St. Marys is now providing a way for you to view your utility bill and billing history online.  Click the link below and click SignUp to create a new account.  You will need your customer account number and your account name as it appears on your monthly utility bill.  If you are already registered, click the link below to login. 

Anderson Ewing Hired As A Firefighter/Paramedic

The Fire Department welcomes its newest employee, Firefighter/Paramedic Anderson Ewing.  A 2015 graduate of Celina High School and an Eagle Scout, Anderson began his firefighting career by graduating from the Ohio Fire Academy on July 12, 2017 and serving on Celina Fire Departments auxiliary.  Anderson has obtained his Firefighter Level II, Hazardous Materials Operations, Rescue SCUBA Diver and most recently his Paramedic certification.

ST. MARYS – Motorists in St. Marys will soon have one less traffic signal to deal with while traversing the city.

New Pickleball Courts Ready For Use

The newest attraction at K.C. Geiger Park is open and ready for the public.  The pickleball complex at the park has recently been installed and is open for play.  In addition to four new pickleball courts, three tennis courts at K.C. Geiger Park have been upgraded as part of ongoing improvements at the facility.
 

Peak Load

The City of St. Marys is under a peak load alert for Friday (June 30), Monday (July 2), and Tuesday (July 3).  Residents are encouraged to reduce electric usage between the hours of 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. those days to help save on power costs. 

Scheduled Power Outage

There will be a scheduled power outage on Sunday, June 10th beginning at 7:00 a.m. lasting approximately 2 hours.  This will affect some residents on Greenville Road and all residents south of Greenville Road.

Open House A Success

National Donut day was celebrated with an Open House at the St. Marys Police and Fire Departments on June 1st.  Attendees enjoyed donuts, juice and coffee and took tours of the Police and FIre Departments.  The K-9 was on hand for demonstrations as well as other demonstrations by the staff.  Below are pictures from the event.  Thanks to all who attended. 

Pool Passes - Early Purchase Dates and Times

Pool passess will be available for purchase on May 21, May 22, and May 23, 2018, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Family Aquatic Center.

New Officer and Josh Boos Promoted to Sergeant

Josh Boos was promoted to Sergeant on February 12, 2018.  Josh has 12 years with the department and is a Memorial High School graduate with an associate degree in law enforcement.  Charlie Eberle is the department’s newest officer.  Charlie also graduated from Memorial High School and has a bachelor of science in criminal justice from Bowling Green State University. Congratulations!

Sgt. Vondrell Retires

Sgt. Vondrell has retired from the Police Department after 22 years of service.  He was hired March 4, 1996, as a Police Officer and promoted to Sergeant on August 16, 2004.  Thanks for your service Shawn.  Enjoy your retirement!
