Indictment Made In 1981 Murder

WAPAKONETA, OHIO

Auglaize County Prosecuting Attorney Edwin A. Pierce, and Mark Ernst, Chief of Police for the City of St. Marys, Ohio announced today, January 2, 2014, Paul Hoover, age 52, recently of Eustis, Florida, was presented before the Auglaize County Common Pleas Court on an indictment returned by the September 2013 term of the Auglaize County Grand Jury. The indictment charges Hoover with one count of aggravated murder. The indictment stems from the homicide of Marcellus Reineke, in the City of St. Marys in October of 1981. Pierce advised the indictment does not contain death penalty specifications. Hoover was arrested on the indictment in the State of Florida on December 13, 2013 and was returned to the State of Ohio after waiving extradition from the State of Florida.

The St. Marys Police Department is continuing its investigation into the homicide as there are other persons of interest associated with the homicide. Chief Ernst and Pierce encouraged anyone with information concerning the murder of Mr. Reineke contact the St. Marys Police Department immediately.

Both Prosecutor Pierce and Chief Ernst stated they would not make any further remarks or take any additional questions concerning the investigation.
