Lore Substation

The industrial substation, located adjacent to the AAP facility, has been renamed as the LORE SUBSTATION in honor of Chet Lore.  Chet, who recently died, was a long time employee of the City of St. Marys and was involved in all aspects of electrical distribution, including Power Plant operations.  Below are pictures of Chet's wife and daughter and City employees at the unveiling of the new sign.

Galen Cisco Diamond

The City of St. Marys has long been recognized as the hometown of Galen Cisco who had a long career in major league baseball and was a coach on two World Series Championship teams.  Mr. Cisco has donated many hours to the youth of St. Marys and serves as an example to the youth of what may be accomplished in an athletic career.  Mr. Cisco also awards annually the Galen Cisco Award to the most valuable player of St. Marys Little League.  On Tuesday, May 14, 2013, during opening ceremonies for St.

Arbor Day Ceremony

The 2013 Arbor Day Ceremony was held on Friday, April 26, 2013, at the High Street Shelter House.  Six dedication trees were planted at this year’s Tree City USA event!  Below are photos from the event!

Seedling Donation

The Auglaize County Soil Water and Conservation District,  St. Marys Memorial High School,  and Vehorn Landscaping donated time, materials, and labor for reforestation seedlings to be used at parks and natural areas in St.

Electric System Study

Spectrum Engineering Corporation out of Auburn, Indiana, was awarded the contract to perform an Electrical System Evaluation Study of the City’s electric system.  The study will be broken down into phases.  Utilizing the verified City data as input information, the Transmission and Distribution System will be modeled and analyzed in Easy Power.  The existing system will be studied for possible safety, reliability and short term growth improvements.  The system will then be studied for system and staff growth potential, keeping in mind that safety and reliability are of t

Recent Renovations at the Fire Department

Recent renovations were made at the Fire Department to increase efficiency and productivity. All of the older windows were upgraded to energy efficient double pane. Finally, we do not have to use an ice scraper on the inside of the windows to see out.

We also remodeled the front office area which created a better flow and more open environment. New cabinetry was installed; allowing files, printers, and fax machines to be in one area. This eliminated time running from one room to another to obtain critical information.

Seasonal applications are accessible online year-round, while the City’s application for full and part-time employment will be made available as openings occur. Additionally, the position description of the job opening will also be posted online as well as the wage range.
