Department Welcomes New Officer

The Police Department welcomes its newest employee, Officer Nathaniel McMaster.  Nathaniel is from Van Wert, Ohio and has a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Wright State University.  Welcome aboard!

Community Garage Sales

Community garage sales set for May 6-7 in St. Marys.  A directory of sales sites is available at local banks, groceries, restaurants, video store, and the Chamber of Commerce office.

2015 Community Grant

A 2015 Community Grant through the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency helped purchase the following for the City of St. Marys to better serve our community and business recycling efforts.  We were able to purchase a used 2008 Hino 20 yard packer truck and 10 rear load hoppers for cardboard collections.

Terry Hubbell and Harry McPheron Retire

Supt. of General Services, Terry Hubbell, retired March 31st after 34+ years of service.  Harry McPheron's last day was also March 31st after three years of service.  Congratulations!  Enjoy your retirement and come back and see us.  Thank you for your years of service.

Temporary Road Closing

Greenville Road is closed west of Aqueduct Road for the next two weeks to replace the culvert.  K. C. Geiger Park will still be accessible from the west entrance. 


Taxpayer Assistance

The Tax Office will be open on Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 9 am - 12 pm for anyone who needs help preparing their City tax return.

Access to Polling Location For Primary Election

During the primary election on Tuesday, March 15th, access will be available to the Union Hall polling location located at 227 E. South Street.  Chestnut Street will be open as well as South Street, west of the canal.  Access will not be available from the Spruce Street and South Street intersection.  The drive to the Union Hall parking lot may have limited access; however, the Armory parking lot will be available and the Chestnut Street parking lot. 

Notice To Customers

Beginning today, March 1st, and for the next 3 to 5 days, City employees will be placing a door hanger notice on the front door of all residents to inform you about the upcoming implementation of the advanced metering infrastructure for our water and electric utilities.  Below is the information on the notice.  Please contact the Utility Office at (419) 394-3303 if you have any questions.  Thank you.

The City of St. Marys Fire Department welcomes its newest member, Firefighter Joshua Haney.   Josh comes from the Dayton area and has a bachelor's degree from Wilmington College.  His father is a Captain with the Dayton Fire Department and is pictured below pinning on his badge.

Two New Police Officers

The City of St. Marys Police Department welcomes its two newest members; Officer Melissa Osting and Officer Tyler Kraner.  Melissa is a graduate of Tiffin University with a bachelor's degree in Government and National Security and Tyler is a graduate of Wright State University with a degree in Criminal Justice.  Welcome aboard!!


Police Special Recognition Award

The St. Marys Police Department proudly announces that on December 3, 2015, Sgt. Timothy Eberle, Detective Kim Reiher (Ret.), and Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Ben Elder were honored with a Special Recognition Award at the annual Ohio Prosecuting Attorney’s conference in Columbus, Ohio. This honor was bestowed upon them for their work in 34 year old Cold Case murder of Marcellus Reineke.  Three men are serving 25 year prison sentences for this crime.

Brian Christopher Promoted to Police Sergeant

Brian Christopher was promoted to Police Sergeant, November 23rd.  Brian has been with the department since 2003 and has a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Ohio Northern University.  Congratulations Brian!!

New Fire Truck

We are excited to announce that our new Engine 143 is in service and ready to serve our community.  This 2016 Pierce Impel is replacing a 1987 Pierce Arrow that served our community well.   Please visit our station; we would be happy to give you a tour of the station and equipment.

Officers Honored

Area Officers were recently honored at a luncheon by the St. Marys Police Department.  The event honored those Officers involved in the Marcellus Reineke murder investigation which recently concluded and resulted in prison terms for the three men involved. Each Officer, some retired, received a Certificate of Recognition from Chief Mark A. Ernst, on behalf of the St. Marys Police Department. The luncheon was held on the 34th anniversary of Mr. Reineke’s untimely death. 

Attention All Residents and Businesses

Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall

The City of St. Marys Fire Department participated in welcoming the traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall as it came through Wapakoneta yesterday evening.  The “Rolling Thunder” escort preceded the Wall from the Wapakoneta VFW to its installation location at Custenborder Field in Sidney.  The Vietnam Memorial Wall will be assembled beginning at 8 a.m. on September 3rd and will be on display until 3 p.m. Saturday, September 5th. 

U. S. Senator Sherrod Brown Visits St. Marys

Monday, St. Marys received a visit from U.S. Senator for Ohio, Sherrod Brown.  While in St. Marys, he visited ContiTech.

Auglaize County Public Informational Meeting for Sales Tax Renewal

The Board of County Commissioners of Auglaize County, Ohio will conduct public informational meetings to inform citizens of a one-half of one percent sales and use tax in the county, effective April 1, 2016, for the purpose of providing revenue for the Auglaize County General Fund pursuant to Ohio Revised Code, Sections 5739-026 and 5741.023.  A meeting will be held September 29, 2015, at 7:00 p.m. in the City of St. Marys Utility/Tax Office Basement at 106. E. Spring St., St.
