The St. Marys Police Department is saddened to announce that on Saturday, May 1, 2021, we lost our beloved K-9 member, Scout. On Thursday, Scout developed a Gastric Dilatation- Volvulus (GDV) and underwent emergency surgery, but died due to complications on Saturday.
Scout, a German Shepherd from Czechoslovakia, was born on August 14, 2013, and started working at the police department with his handler, Ptl. Brian Parker, in March of 2015. Since 2015, Scout and Ptl. Parker have been inseparable at work and while with the Parker family. Scout was an integral part of the St. Marys Police Department family, safety of the community, and was responsible for multiple seizures of narcotics over his six year watch over the residents of St. Marys. Scout touched so many hearts, especially in the community outreach he and Ptl. Parker did with our youth.
Scout was a brother to Ptl. Parker, a beloved member of the Parker household and is dearly missed. We ask that you please keep Ptl. Parker, his family, and the department in your thoughts and prayers as we mourn this loss.
May you rest in peace Scout. We have it from here!
