New Hours For Tax and Utility Office

In an effort to increase efficiency and streamline operations, the City of St. Marys Tax and Utility Office will be changing its hours of operation.  Starting on Feb. 5, 2018, the Tax and Utility Office will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The change will help the tax and utility clerks better serve customers.

Our New Chief of Police, Jacob Sutton

Sgt. Jacob Sutton was promoted to Chief of Police on December 5, 2017.  Chief Sutton is a graduate of Memorial High School and has a bachelor degree in Criminal Justice from Tiffin University.  He started his career with the City of St. Marys as a Police Officer in 1999 and was promoted to Sergeant in 2007.  Congratulations Chief Sutton on your new appointment!

Tom Kennedy Promoted to Sergeant

On December 11, 2017, Thomas Kennedy II was promoted to Police Sergeant.  Sgt. Kennedy has been with the department since 2007 and is a graduate of Bluffton High School and has a bachelor degree in Criminal Justice from Tiffin Univerity.  Congratulations Tom!

Karen Bergman Retires!

Karen Bergman retired from the City after 28 years of service!  Karen worked in the Utility Office as a Utilities Billing Clerk. We wish her the best!  Thank you for your service! 

Plt. Shane Grieves, our new Police Officer

Ptl. Shane Grieves, hired November 20th, took his Oath of Office at last night's Council Meeting.  Shane is a graduate of Anna High School and the Grand Lake Law Enforcement Academy at Wright State University.  Welcome aboard Shane!

27th Year Tree City USA

Stephanie Miller, the district representative for the State Forestry office, recognized the City of St. Marys for their 27th year in the Tree City USA program.

New Utility Payment Drop Box

For your convenience, a new utility payment drop box has been installed in the municipal parking lot behind the Utility Office.  Utility payments can be placed in the box 24 hours a day, 7 days per week.  Payments are collected each day the Utility Office is open.  Do not place cash in the drop box; personal checks or money orders only. 

Trick or Treat

Trick or Treat for the City of St. Marys is Thursday, October 26, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

City Linemen Helping With Recovery Efforts In Florida

Two City of St. Marys linemen left for Florida Sunday morning to help with Hurricane Irma recovery efforts.  They met up with 10 employees from Hamilton, Ohio and were headed down in a convoy that included bucket trucks and digger trucks.  Pictured below are Jason Durkee and John Vogel.  Thanks guys for volunteering!  Be safe!

School and City Partnership

The City of St. Marys has partnered with the St. Marys Memorial High School, FFA/Agricultural Department, to allow the school to do agricultural activities on City owned property located on McKinley Road.  This partnership allows the students to get experience in crop production.  From planning, development, managing and monitoring agricultural crops, the students will learn to manage all aspects of actual farming practices.

Beginning August 18 through September 3:  Open Swim 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
September 4:  Open Swim 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Due to inclement weather the swimming pool will be closed today, Friday, June 23rd.

Due to cooler temperatures, the St. Marys Aquatic Center will be closed today, Wednesday, June 7th.

Department Welcomes New Officer

The Police Department welcomes its newest employee, Officer Thomas (Will) Walter III.  Will is a graduate of Memorial High School and currently serves as a reservist in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. Welcome aboard!

LIA Annual Summer Kickoff Festival

The Lake Improvement Association will host the third annual Summer Kickoff Festival on Saturday, June 3rd, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., near the Villa Nova shelter house on the northeast side of Grand Lake St. Marys.  Admission is free to the public, with all proceeds from events and concessions going toward the improvement of Grand Lake St. Marys.  Learn more at
